On April 28, 2026, Children’s Dignity Forum (CDF) trained 25 journalists from 19 media houses at CDF’s headquarters to strengthen ethical and responsible reporting on child rights and protection issues. The training focused on safeguarding principles, child rights, and storytelling approaches that ensure children’s dignity, privacy, and best interests are protected.
The initiative was organized in response to the growing need for sensitive and child-friendly media coverage of issues affecting children, particularly cases involving abuse, violence, child marriage, and other harmful practices, where inappropriate reporting may expose children to stigma, discrimination, or further harm.
Through discussions and practical case studies, journalists strengthened their capacity to report child-related stories with accuracy and care.
“We are now better equipped to report on child issues in ways that protect children’s rights and dignity,” said one participating journalist.
The training is expected to improve media coverage of child protection issues, increase public awareness, and strengthen advocacy for children’s rights and well-being. CDF continues to engage media professionals to promote ethical journalism and child protection in Tanzania.
