In November 2025, the Children’s Dignity Forum (CDF) conducted a series of community and school-based engagements to strengthen girls’ empowerment, child protection, and leadership at the grassroots level.
CDF visited Kitunda, Kerezange, and Jitihada Primary Schools in Kitunda Ward, Dar es Salaam, to strengthen existing school clubs. The engagement focused on creating safe spaces where children can discuss violence, harmful social norms, and child protection in an open and participatory way.

Through interactive sessions using dilemma-based learning, children were encouraged to think critically, share experiences, and learn from one another. Teachers and headteachers emphasized the importance of school clubs as platforms for peer learning and confidence building.
“Club sessions are very important. Children use these spaces to learn from each other and explore issues they don’t always access in regular classes,” one teacher shared.
The visit also allowed CDF to identify gaps, opportunities, and priorities that will inform 2026 interventions in Kitunda.
