Men Engage Network


MenEngage Network Tanzania (MET) is a network of 10 non-governmental organizations that engage boys and men to fight for gender equality. The main focus involved men and boys in promoting children’s and women’s rights. The network is chaired by the Children’s Dignity Forum (CDF).

MET member organizations focus specifically on:

  1. Children’s & women’s rights
  2. Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR)
  3. Gender based violence

MenEngage Tanzania works primarily through:

  1. Community dialogue, consultative meetings and workshops Ex. MenEngage stakeholder meeting Feb. 2015
  2. Capacity building and empowerment trainings
  3. Awareness raising campaigns Ex. Community mobilization meeting and men dialogue in Tarime May 2015
  4. Media advocacy through radio, newspaper articles and TV programming Ex. Article in the Daily Newspaper “Project launched to promote Women Rights in Tarime”
  5. Publications and documentations of the Best Practices



Some of the important MenEngage network achievements include:

  1. Stakeholders meeting that lay down the foundation & establishment of the MET Network in February 2015
  2. Production of MET promotional materials, including brochures, posters, banners and t-shirts used to mobilize the community and start dialogues on women’s and children’s rights
  3. Radio programming on Clouds FM radio station, several newspaper articles in the Daily Newspaper
  4. Community dialogues with men and boys in May 2015
  5. Community mobilization events in May 2015 with more than 300 people in attendance at the Serengeti Stadium in the Tarime District
